Alysia Hook is a California native with a life long love of the arts. She actively explores a variety of creative forms, showing particular aplomb in modes of movement and visual composition.

A force to be reckoned with, Alysia graduated in 2001 from UC Santa Barbara with a BFA in Dance, emphasis in Ballet, Modern, and Choreography. That same year Alysia was awarded a full scholarship to attend the American Dance Festival (ADF) at Duke University, North Carolina, where she had the privilege to perform under Modern dance legend, Meredith Monk. In San Luis Obispo, Alysia danced professionally with both Variable Velocity Performance Group, and for The Contemporary Dance Core where she studied under accomplished choreographer, Ashley Friend.

She then traveled to Indonesia to study traditional Balinese theater, survived New York and its infamous grueling auditions, and veered off the grid entirely to study Chi and Hatha Yoga, deep in the Hawaiian jungle. Alysia magically landed in the Bay Area in 2008.

Fire dance caught Alysia’s eye when she began an internship at The Crucible, an industrial arts organization in West Oakland, where she took her first fire performance class under the expert tutelage of Lara Hopwood. Once she lit up her first set of poi, she knew it was true love! Alysia is now proud to be performing with Copper Lantern Fire Theater, and working full time with a not-for-profit circus arts organization in San Francisco.
