Elayne has been an avid dancer of various forms of Modern, Ballroom, Ethnic and Middle Eastern dance since 1990, and started concentrating on Middle Eastern Dance in 1995. In 1999, her focus led her to Hahbi’Ru, a traditional folkloric troupe directed by John Compton. Completely taken with folkloric style, she was invited into the troupe 6 months later, and ecstatically joined. She continues to perform with Hahbi’Ru regularly.
Around the same time of discovering the joys of Hahbi’Ru, Elayne discovered the joys of playing with fire. Beginning with fire breathing and torches, she moved on to fans and fingers. In 2003, she joined the fire troupe Sintillation where she had the opportunity to draw from her extensive performance background to craft strange and unique choreography for the troupe. Elayne joined Copper Lantern in 2005, where she has worked on integrating Argentine Tango, Acrobalancing and Middle Eastern Fusion into partners fire dance.
This year, she traveled to Bermuda to perform. The island loved her so much, she was personally invited to return two weeks later.
