Everyone had a great time rockin’ to the Trekkie tunes of Warp 11, the banging DJ sets of Forest Green & Dragn’fly. Copper Lantern came out in their green-skinned, pre-hensile tail glory for a truly out of this world, sci-fi show. Proceeds benefit the DSC’s project “Pyroplexity II.”

Thanks to all who joined us for A Show of Performance and Skill presented by Spinagogue, one of the Bay Area’s leading educators in object manipulation and flow arts. For two days, Spinagogue offered a broad range of workshops covering cutting edge techniques in poi, single & double staves, juggling, partnering and dance-based choreography. The Saturday night show featured some of the Bay Area’s premiere fire performance troupes. Copper Lantern Fire Theater performed new pieces alongside many talented guests, such as the madly skillful Vulcan Crew, the delirious & delightful Dreamtime Circus, and the antic Code RED:Circus Conspiracy.

MAY 2008
Thanks to all who came, performed and helped with the Burn Barrel show. It was an overwhelming success!

MAY 2008
The Copper Lantern Fire Theater partnered with PureKT Productions and the Department of Spontaneous Combustion to stage a new full-length show, Burn Barrel on Thursday, May 22 & Friday, May 23, 2008. Three main acts were featured, including our new “futurepast” work-in-progress, Ex Machina. In an industrial landscape full of grease, gears & steam, an over-worked engineer contemplated her tenuous relationship with technology. This multi-media production wove together fire performance, flame effects, intricate modern dance, physical comedy, kinetic sculpture and a powerful musical mix. Between acts, a speakeasy with sideshow feats from aerialists to ghastly storytellers stitched together the dark fabric of the Bay Area night.
