This Privacy Policy describes how Copper Lantern Media Inc. (“Copper Lantern,” “we,” “our”) collects, uses, and handles information in connection with your access to and use of copperlantern.org (the “Site”).
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
When you use the contact form on this site, you provide your name, phone number, and email address. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is not stored in a marketing database, sold, or shared with third parties.
Automatically collected information
When you access the Site, our web hosting provider may log standard technical information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and the pages you visit. This data is used for server administration and security purposes. It is not linked to personally identifiable information and is not used for behavioural profiling.
2. Cookies
The Site uses a single first-party cookie to record your response to the cookie consent banner. This cookie (“cl_cookie_consent”) stores only your accept or reject selection and expires after 365 days. No third-party tracking cookies are set by this site.
If you select “Reject” on the cookie banner, no additional cookies beyond the consent-record cookie are set. The consent-record cookie is strictly necessary for the banner to function and is exempt from PIPEDA opt-in requirements.
3. Third-party services
Images displayed on this site are served directly from Wikimedia Commons infrastructure (upload.wikimedia.org) under Creative Commons licences. When your browser loads these images, Wikimedia's servers receive your request. Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy governs that interaction and is available at foundation.wikimedia.org.
This site does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

We do not use information collected through this site for advertising, profiling, or direct marketing purposes.
5. Data retention
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months for the purpose of managing editorial correspondence. Server access logs are retained for up to 90 days for security purposes. Cookie consent records expire after 365 days as described above.
6. Your rights under Canadian law
Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, you have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
